About My Approach
My approach is simple - to enable each individual to listen to their own mind and body and trust their intuition and inner wisdom as to what they need and what they need to let go of.
Like most of us I have been in the habit of holding on to consciously or unconsciously the emotions and anxieties that inhibit our wellbeing, that become blockages in our physical bodies. Discovering and knowing our own innner being allows us to tap into our inner wisdom and the grounding influence that enables us to participate more fully in our daily lives with a renewed assurance and vitality.
The practical and sympathetic support of the deepling relaxing practice of Restorative Yoga enables and empowers you to live in harmony with yourself.
Fear prevents us from trusting that life will bring us what we need
Purpose of Restorative Yoga
Restorative Yoga is a very specific pratice developed by Judith Hanson Lasater, Ph.D., P.T. a student of B.K.S. Iyengar, who conducted special therapeutic classes for those unable to participate in his regular active yoga sessions.
The result was a style of practice that allows for postures to be held for longer using props and support to release pressure and strain on our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. This allows the mind to focus on and deepen the breath to release tension and softly stretch the muscles effortlessly, in doing so the bodies natural relaxation response is restored.
The power of these calm and soothing poses support our own inner healing process that is so often overwhelmed by the stresses and strains of our daily lives. Therefore this practice is not only suitable for the physically able but also an accessible and benificial practice for a range of health conditions such as high blood pressure, asthma, migraines, stress related diseases, chronic fatigue, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and cancer.
The body is my alter, and the postures are the prayers - B.K.S Iyengar
About Lee
I have had varied life experiences...
In my early twenties I travelled extensively, including trips to India and Nepal where I experienced my first taste, if not so authentic as one might of hoped, of yoga and meditation. Consequently my interest in yoga was on and off over the subsequent years until more recent times when finding the right teachers it became a daily part of my life.
My other interests include painting and gardening, and I enjoy walking the local valley with my lively collie Missy.
I have 9 years experience of working in Mental Health which has embedded existing positive attributes working with a Person Centred approach to individuals needs sensitively and without judgement.
I also use these skills in my role as a self employed gardener and cleaner of over 15 years and now as a Yoga teacher to enable physical and mental wellbeing.
